Soil poisoning is one of the most important steps in the building process.Prior to the laying of the foundations or paving,the foundations (trenches & underfloors) needs to be treated for subterranean termites and also weeds especially for the paving areas - South African National Standards (SANS) 10400.It is a requirement stipulated by the South African government and forms part of a strict building code.If you do not comply with the soil poisoning treatment standards it will cause you problems when trying to sign off a new building if you cannot produce the relevant certificates.
